Mayor of Montego Bay and Chairman of the St. James Municipal Corporation, Councillor Homer Davis is congratulating Journalist and Businesswoman, Janet Silvera on her appointment as President of the Montego Bay Chamber and Industry.
Ms. Silvera’s elevation to the top post at the MBCCI came following the recent resignation of President Winston Lawson.
In congratulating Ms. Silvera, Mayor Davis said he is confident that the cordial relationship between the Chamber and the St. James Municipal Corporation will continue despite the leadership change.
“The St. James Municipal Corporation and the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce and Industry have over many decades enjoyed a mutual beneficial relationship as both entities work towards the development of not just Montego Bay, but the parish of St. James. I am very confident that under Ms. Silvera’s leadership, this relationship will remain intact and may even get stronger, given the fact that outside of her business commitments, as a Journalist she has always supported the work of the Corporation”, Mayor Davis said.
He pointed out that as the President of the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce, Ms. Silvera now assumes the role of being that body’s representative on the Mayor’s Advisory Committee and is looking forward to her contributions.
Ms. Silvera previously served the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce and Industry as First Vice President to Mr. Lawson and will occupy the post of President until the body holds its annual general meeting in April 2020.
