This facility is dedicated to providing medical, legal and social services to the mentally ill, homeless, and drug addicts. Conceived as a ‘first contact’ centre, clients are directed either to the hospital or to CUMI (Committee for the Upliftment of the Mentally Ill) which offers occupational therapy and a small night shelter.
City Spirit provides general mental health services, drug abuse assessment and treatment, home visitation (done by the Poor Relief Department), advocacy and family support and therapy. Two meals a day and bathing facilities are provided. City Spirit is located at 2 Lawrence Lane (corner of Church & Orange Streets) in Montego Bay.
