Mayor of Montego Bay, Councillor Leeroy Williams - Christmas Message

MAYOR’S CHRISTMAS MESSAGE 2022
HIS WORSHIP, THE MAYOR AND CHAIRMANOF THE ST. JAMES MUNICIPAL CORPORATION
COUNCILLOR LEEROY WILLILAMS, OD, JP, BA

Season’s greetings and Happy Holidays to the citizens of Montego Bay and the parish of St. James!

It is indeed a wonderful feeling and a blessing for us to pause and celebrate in our commemoration of the birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

It is my wish that the season be filled with peace, love and joy.

As we make preparations to participate in our respective activities, it is also a time to reflect on the past year in an effort to make positive changes as we go forward.

Particularly at this time, there is an atmosphere of selflessness and we are encouraged to lift others and to share with those who are in need.

It is no secret that we are faced with challenges. However, we must never lose sight of the true reason for the season and celebrate Jesus Christ giving thanks for the examples of kindness and love that He displayed for all to follow.

As Mayor of the city of Montego Bay and Chairman of the St. James Municipal Corporation, I want to encourage you to follow Christ’s good examples and to commit to doing good deeds; good deeds can still be contagious and if we all practise to do good for others, we can help to multiply the positive effects.

As I deliver this message of goodwill and hope, I remain confident that we have the power to make meaningful impacts on the lives of everyone we meet and in building our capacity as a people and as a country.

Collectively, we can and must play a role in making our communities safe for all Jamaicans; let us demonstrate the true meaning of our Jamaican spirit, giving with love, being good neighbours and good countrymen and women.

I pause to recognise the hardworking members of the security forces and the essential services who tirelessly give of themselves to protect and make Jamaica a healthier country.

On behalf of my family, members of the Political Directorate and Administrative staff of the St. James Municipal Corporation, Happy Holidays and a productive 2023!
