A major sidewalk improvement project being undertaken by the St James Municipal Corporation on Sunset Boulevard in Montego Bay. The street which will shortly be renamed to Godfrey Dyer Boulevard in honour of businessman and Chairman of Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF), Hon. Godfrey Dyer, OJ, will give pedestrians and motorists a better experience while travelling along the roadway.
The sidewalk will cover 2,500 metres, spans Sunset Boulevard from the roundabout of the Sangster International Airport to the intersection of Jimmy Cliff Boulevard.

Mayor of Montego Bay, Councillor Homer Davis in reflecting on the project said the project which will be completed in short order will have a profound impact on the lives of persons who traverse the busy thoroughfare, heading to or from the Sangster International Airport as well as those who use the area for jogging.
Mayor Davis said “commuters who utilize this Sunset Boulevard which will soon be renamed Godfrey Dyer Boulevard, will benefit greatly from a project in terms of providing another level of safety for them. Pedestrians in particular will experience better ease of access especially when undertaking their fitness activities”.
“Rehabilitation of the sidewalks in the city is crucial for the safety and mobility of our citizens. The aim is to prevent accident incidence but the sidewalks also add uniformity to our surroundings and we all can benefit from the aesthetic”, Mayor Davis further added.

The Sidewalk rehabilitation programme is part of the mandate of the Roads & Works Department which is the engineering arm of the St James Municipal Corporation.
